Backup Power Score is an independent research site. We turn public outage data into plain backup power guides.
We started Backup Power Score because most backup power advice ignores how long the power actually goes out where you live. Every state page uses the U.S. Energy Information Administration's utility reliability data, with the year and source shown.
What we don't do
- We don't do hands-on testing of generators, batteries or panels.
- We don't publish star ratings or “best overall” picks we can't support.
- We don't accept payment for rankings or placement.
